Lawrence Avenue street-scape update: Ground breaks!

Lincoln Square Patch has a nice report on the Lawrence Ave "road diet" and street-scape project. The project has broken ground and will affect traffic through the Ravenswood neighborhood of Lincoln Square for a couple years.
The Lawrence Avenue street-scape project is given credit for attracting recent new business and residential development to empty storefronts and lots. Above is a cool but empty restaurant space at Lawrence and Leavitt.  I believe there is a new tenant for the space. (Photo Eric Rojas, Real Estate Broker)

I've found many local neighbors and people interested in moving to the neighborhood are not aware of this project! When told they are really impressed by the amount of area development.

Independence Day in Winnemac Park

Just a quick reminder that Illinois laws regarding fireworks have changed for this year. Alderman O'Connor has posted a helpful guide on his website to help you determine what's legal and what's not, and he notes that "[a]nyone caught with illegal fireworks in Chicago faces a fine of $200 to $500 or felony charges." Most of the larger munitions require a permit, and there are no permitted fireworks displays scheduled for Winnemac Park this year.

Stay safe, everyone!
